Writing My Novel: Novel Update

I put off writing this post a week longer than I planned to, but things have been a little slow with my writing until this week. As of yesterday, I finished taking all the notes on the writing I did during NaNoWriMo. I know have a better idea about what my story is about, and the full scope of the world is coming into view.

My next step is going through and figuring out what scenes are missing and need to be written. Any other writers will understand the difficulty of this when I say that the background stories for my two main characters have both changed drastically. That means I need to fix and redo everything so that it matches their backgrounds. It’s exhausting to think about.

I’ll be using the last half of April to do this, writing all the scenes down on recipe cards so that I can easily rearrange them and find out the right order for all the events to take place, while making sure that the two timelines from Mirna and Xaoryn don’t get confused. Hopefully, by the end of April, I’ll be ready to write new scenes and rewriting old ones in May.

I want so badly to give you guys a blurb about my novel, but I have a huge fear of talking about it in case someone steals my ideas. I hate to think that anyone here would do that, but I know that unfortunately there are people that don’t respect people’s ideas. One day, I will talk more about my world.

I’ll give another writing update in my wrap-up post for April, so watch out for that! For now, I’m going to finish up here and dive back into my novel. Watch out for my newest review next Tuesday, The Coldest Girl in Coldtown!
